The German Chips Competence Centre is supporting Swiss deep-tech start-up UNOMR in identifying suitable fabrication pathways for its novel sensor chip technology for protein analysis. Introduced to G3C through the TUM Venture Labs, the company was looking to scale up chip production and explore suitable manufacturing options in Europe.

Together with UNOMR, G3C analysed the technical requirements and approached several research and manufacturing organisations, including Fraunhofer ENAS, Fraunhofer IMS and Fraunhofer EMFT, to assess potential fabrication routes, feasibility and indicative costs.

Through the European network of Chips Competence Centres, G3C also established contact with a Dutch technology provider via ChipNL. The exchange has provided UNOMR with a clearer picture of the manufacturing options available for its technology and laid the groundwork for further collaboration.

The case demonstrates how G3C supports start-ups in navigating the European semiconductor ecosystem and identifying suitable expertise, infrastructure and implementation partners.
