G3C has joined a European collaboration aimed at developing systematic approaches to sustainability in microelectronics. The initiative brings together research institutions and Chips Competence Centre initiatives from Denmark, Sweden, Germany and Ukraine and builds on the Swedish Institute-funded SeBaltEc project.

The collaboration addresses the full life cycle of microelectronic components and technologies, from material selection and manufacturing processes to energy and resource consumption, reliability and end-of-life strategies. A particular focus is the development of transparent assessment and benchmarking approaches, including Life Cycle Assessment and design-for-sustainability methods.

Topic-specific workshops will support exchange between research, infrastructure initiatives and industrial stakeholders. The collaboration will also connect with European Chips Competence Centres and EU pilot lines to transfer sustainability approaches towards application-oriented demonstration and scaling.

Through its participation, G3C aims to contribute to practical approaches that combine reduced environmental impact with technological performance and robustness.
